Ok, check this out. This is my first hybrid project. I got it from a Jessica Sprague card making class. Sydney and I made this pop-up card for her friend's birthday. It turned out really good, I was impressed!

Sadly, I forgot my camera when we went to the pumpkin patch this year. But I did get some fun shots of us carving the pumpkins. Zack was almost in tears because he didn't want to touch the insides of the pumpkin. But finally he did and he thought it was pretty funny. Alan baked up the pumpkin seeds and they were delicious!!

Yes, it was National Scrapbook Day this past weekend. I did end up spending some money on a couple of kits from my fav designor, Sahlin Studios. And of course I copied all of her CT's work, because I'm just not that talented! So here is one that I threw together tonight... hopefully I will make some time soon to start on the pages from our Cancun trip. That will be a lot of work, but hopefully I'll have some great results!

I saw this post on the Little Dreamer Designs website from someone who had created wall art with their pictures. I thought it was beautiful... and something I could actually do myself! So here is what I came up with, using my supplies from my Jessica Sprague classes- oh and I bought an overlay to create the background, with some texture. Used a website to match up the colors in my room.

Now I just need to make one more with a picture of me and Alan on it :)

My photobook from Winkflash was delivered last night and I am so super thrilled with it! It's leather bound, 12 x 12. Looks so good! I am amazed at the quality. After looking at it, I want to do it all again. So that's my plan for 2011 :)
Good thing I got home before my husband did - they put the USPS box right in front of the garage door where he would drive his truck. It may have been run over last night. whew!!

I've been feverishly trying to get these pages done so I can make a photobook. And then I decided I just don't like those circles and numbers I was using, so I made a change. I'll be updating the earlier pages soon... this project will be completed by the end of January - and I mean it!! (not like that 365 project of last year, only 5 months of pages to complete. yikes!)

I was being a domestic goddess on Sunday. I bought a new cookbook of cookies and everything looked so good! I picked out 5 recipes to make. One of them was a major pain and did not turn out as well as expected, but they still tasted good. Since both of the grandparents are in town this holiday season, we are sending some treats over to them!

Speed Scrap

So I was supposed to be updating Quicken last night, my monthly financial update, *but* I saw they were having a speed scrap over at ScrapMatters tonight. No problem, I can do both right? Well, I did a little Quicken, but mostly working on this page. The instructions were to use the same color sheets and elements, use a question and quotes, and a few other things. I think it turned out pretty good, but a little busy. However, the big letdown was that I couldn't upload my page to the gallery!! For whatever reason it wasn't working and I didn't get it posted by the deadline - in fact I still can't post it. uggghhh Next month, I'm sticking with just getting my Quicken work done! :)

It was just the best thing that I got that new battery - we took a camping trip to down to Hocking Hills and I got to use my laptop the whole trip in the truck. I got a lot of scrapbooking done - even though the ride was a little bumpy!

Inspiration comes from the most unusual places - tonight it was the fact that I got a new laptop battery! YAHOO! My old battery was dieing after just 15 minutes, so I was pretty limited and had to drag my charger around. But my super fabulous hubby snagged me a new battery off Ebay and I'm free again! So here I sit watching Leno and finishing up this scrapbook page.

where oh where has my scrapping time gone? seems like every week it's some new reason I can't sit down and work on my pages. I have been taking pictures everyday, and some day soon I'll get them all made into scrapbook pages. I long for the cool fall days when it turns dark at 7:30 and the kids are in bed at 8pm so I can have some computer time! :) oh wait, the new fall TV season is starting next week. sigh

I'm not sure how this slipped into my day, but updating Quicken tonight seemed sooooo boring that I thought I would relax and finish up my Jessica Sprague class. It had a lot of stuff in it that I already knew, but I as always I did learn a lot of new techniques too.

I love the simple clean looks of both of these layouts. These are really quite a departure from what she normally has us do, which are layouts with lots of flourishes and such. I like!

This technique is subtle, but pretty cool - it's an edge burn. The first picture is the before..

and the "after" shot is darker around the edges.

Yahoo, look at me! I completed this page in less than an hour. Mostly while Pico my kitten jumped across my keyboard and chewed on the cables to my laptop. What an accomplishment! I love the colors in this fun kit from Flergs (her blog is here). I really like her stuff, and this kit was free!

Check out how Zack is examining the bottom of the recliner chair - he always want to know "how it works". That's my boy!!

When it comes to showing appreciation for the school teachers I'm just never sure what to do. I'm sure some people buy them gifts, but when I pay for tuition (which certainly isn't cheap) I'm torn about spending more money on the cause. Not that I don't appreciate the teachers (I truly do, and I know teachers are underpaid) I'm just not sure what is the "right thing" to do. So for the kindergarten teachers I came up with the idea that I'd make them a card - if it were me, I think a heartfelt note of appreciation would be a great gift. I'd love to hear that my work is helping someone out. So here is the card design I came up with...

The picture of Zack was taken on my phone, so it wasn't the best quality, but he was sleeping so peacefully I had to take his picture. Another 15 minutes later, he was not a happy little boy!! What a trooper he was that day.

I am such a sucker for those layouts by the CT of designers. Well done, you salespeople - I bought another kit!! Well, it was just a "mini" kit, but it's got some cool stuff. I especially like the little felt elements. Anyhow, the kit is April Showers from Funky Playground, but with the special deal they were running, my total was only $1.25, so I'm really the last of the big spenders. haha!

I'm taking another Jessica Sprague class right now (oops, and I haven't even finished the photo editting one yet!). This class is about journaling. It was actually a freebie in the class pack that I bought, so no sweat if I don't like it :) This layout was nice, but it was so freaking huge! All of those little tabs of colors really added up and the PSD file was 460MB. So there was no looking back on this one. After I created it, I deleted it. Photoshop was so bogged down working on this one, it wasn't pleasant.

St Patty's week was a little mild, a little rainy, but just generally a nice week :) No green beer, but we did wake up to green milk one day due to those pesky leprechauns (and duh, I never even took a picture of it). Although it didn't taste any different (just food coloring) it gave me the creeps to drink it!

I forgot to put the cover pages out here too - for the Christmas book. I did these last and I think they were the hardest. At first I made a hideous page, which Alan and I both had a good laugh about. This second version was much, much better!

For days I have been laboring over these pages... and they are finally done! I got one of those offers for a "free" book ArtsCow so I thought it give it a try using my own scrapbook pages. I've had a book made there before and I thought the quality was just OK, but the layouts at the time were pretty limited. I hope I won't be too disappointed when I see the results! :)
